Objectives of 17th AsiaConstruct
Being the second largest economic activity in the nation, with an annual expenditure of Rs 410,000 crores & a consistent growth rate of over 10%, Construction Industry enjoys the most prominent place in the national economy.
Considering its importance, Govt. of India inducted a separate chapter on construction in the 10th & 11th National Plans.
The plan documents articulate the issues needing attention of the Government as well as the reform process to be initiated for better performance of the Industry. Several seminars & conferences have deliberated on the issues, however, such deliberations have been on the issues related to individual sub-sectors of Construction Industry. However, there is a need of a holistic approach for sustainable development of the industry.
There is also an issue of learning from the Industry of other nations, specially from member countries of AsiaConstruct. The focus of 17th AsiaConstruct Conference is to raise such issues, cutting across sub-sectoral domains & also to take cognizance of the developments/ reforms introduced in other countries.
